Melatonin is a hormone secreted by the pineal gland when it is dark and has been shown to support a healthy sleep cycle especially in individuals who may have difficulty sleeping.
Melatonin has been used in alternative medicine as a likely effective aid in treating insomnia (trouble falling asleep or staying asleep). Melatonin has also beneficial effects on jet lag and in fighting cancers including breast and liver cancers, non-small-cell lung cancer.
